How I Work
A clear process for better results
Strong websites and brands do not happen by accident. Every project begins with strategy, moves through thoughtful design, and ends with practical execution that helps people understand you, trust you, and take action.
Discover • Clarify • Design • Build & Refine
Good creative work should not feel mysterious
Every project follows a structured process designed to keep decisions clear, communication moving, and expectations aligned. You will always know which phase we are in, what I need from you, and what comes next.
The four phases of every project
Each phase has a clear purpose, a defined set of decisions, and a natural handoff into the next. Here is what each one covers.
01
Discover
Goals, audience, & opportunity
I start by learning about your business, your audience, and what success looks like. Through conversation and review, we identify the challenges, opportunities, and priorities that will shape your project.
02
Clarify
Message, structure, & direction
Next, I clarify your message and organize the information people need most. This step creates the strategic foundation for stronger branding, clearer pages, and a more focused user experience.
03
Design
Visual identity & user experience
With the strategy in place, I translate ideas into visual design. From page layouts and typography to branding elements and graphic systems, every decision is made with clarity and purpose.
04
Build & Refine
Execution, feedback, & launch
Finally, I bring everything together, refine the details, and prepare for launch. The result is a polished website and design system that feels professional, works hard, and is built to support your goals.
A closer look at each phase
Discover
Goals, audience, & opportunity
Before anything gets designed, we get clear on what the project actually needs to accomplish.
What happens in this phase
- Discovery and goal clarification
- Audience and user-path planning
- Review of your current website, brand, and materials
- Priorities, constraints, and how success will be measured
Clarify
Message, structure, & direction
Strategy becomes structure. This is where your message and the shape of the project get decided.
What happens in this phase
- Sitemap and page organization
- Messaging and content guidance
- Calls to action and conversion planning
- Brand positioning and visual direction
Design
Visual identity & user experience
With direction settled, the work becomes visual, and every decision traces back to the strategy.
What happens in this phase
- Custom WordPress and Elementor design
- Mobile, tablet, and desktop layouts
- Logo, color, and typography systems
- Custom graphics and supporting visual elements
Build & Refine
Execution, feedback, & launch
Everything comes together, gets reviewed, and goes live, with the details handled properly.
What happens in this phase
- Contact forms and practical integrations
- Foundational on-page SEO setup
- Client review and approval rounds
- Launch, handoff, and guidance on managing it yourself
You do not need to have it all figured out
You do not need to arrive with polished copy, a finished brand, or a fully developed concept. I can develop content from the ground up based on your goals, audience, and services, or work with what you already have and refine it. What helps most is your knowledge of your organization, timely feedback at review points, and a willingness to make decisions together.
Common Questions
Questions people ask before we start
How many rounds of revisions are included?
Each phase includes a review round where you give consolidated feedback and I make the adjustments before we move forward. Most projects settle within two rounds per phase, because the direction is agreed before any design work begins. If a project needs more than that, we talk about why rather than letting revisions run on indefinitely.
What if I do not like the first design direction?
That is what the review round exists for. Because Discover and Clarify happen before anything is designed, a first direction rarely misses completely. If it does, we go back to the strategy we agreed on and work out which part was wrong before redesigning, rather than guessing at a second version.
How much of my time will this take?
Your involvement is heaviest at the start, during discovery, and at each review point. Between those, most of the work sits on my side. Expect a conversation at the beginning of each phase and focused feedback at the end of it.
What happens if my content is not ready?
Content is the most common reason projects stall, which is why it is handled in Clarify rather than left until the end. I can develop content from the ground up based on your goals and audience, or work from what you already have and refine it.
Who owns the website and the design files when the project is finished?
You do. The website, the domain, and the design files are yours. I hand over access at launch, along with guidance on managing the parts you want to manage yourself.
What if the project stalls on my end?
It happens, and it is not a problem as long as we talk about it. Timelines assume feedback arrives at the review points, so if something delays you we reset the schedule rather than rushing a phase to catch up.
